It calls on the relevant authorities to build a pedestrian crossing over the M-506 and to remove traffic restrictions on this road 

The City Council will launch a plan to improve the public transport service provided by the EMTF to the Parque Miraflores neighbourhood. At the same time, it will carry out a mobility study to assess possible solutions for restricted traffic access to that neighbourhood. 

The Council today approved, with votes in favour from the PSOE, Vox and Mas Madrid and an abstention from the PP, a motion which, in addition to the above, calls on the relevant authorities to take action to resolve the mobility and isolation issues affecting the neighbourhood. 

The City Council is moving forward with some of these measures, such as the construction of a pedestrian crossing over the M-506 to connect Parque Miraflores with Móstoles, which is only a few metres away. Furthermore, it calls on the Community of Madrid to take urgent action to remove restrictions and reduce traffic congestion on the M-506, at the neighbourhood’s access points and at the access points to Móstoles. 

It proposes the creation of a direct access from the service road to the main carriageway of the road opposite Calle Metalúrgicos. 

The motion also includes residents’ demands to improve inter-city transport between Parque Miraflores and Aluche, a request that will be forwarded to the Community of Madrid and the Transport Consortium. 

The Parque Miraflores neighbourhood is home to 2,173 residents who face serious mobility problems every day when trying to reach their homes. Built in the 1970s at the height of the property boom, the neighbourhood is isolated and cut off from the rest of Fuenlabrada. This isolation has been exacerbated by the construction of the R-5 and M-50 motorways and the widening of the M-506, one of the busiest roads in the Community of Madrid.   

Mayor Javier Ayala met with the Parque Miraflores residents’ association to hear their concerns, pledging to work towards finding solutions.
