The Council has approved a motion expressing its support for the special regularisation process for immigrants

Fuenlabrada has today demonstrated its commitment to defending the fundamental rights of all people in the municipality, regardless of their nationality or place of origin, rejecting all political initiatives that seek to exclude a section of society and which, under the guise of a “national priority”, merely conceal racism and hatred.

This is stated in a motion approved at today’s Plenary Session on the initiative of the PSOE, which was passed with xxxx votes in favour, xxx against and xxxx abstentions.

The text also expresses support for Royal Decree 316 of 14 April, through which the Government “has taken a step towards justice” by launching an extraordinary process to regularise the situation of immigrants who “are already here, who work and live here, in our municipalities”.

The plenary session urges the municipal government to continue developing cross-cutting integration plans in the municipality that continue to promote coexistence. It urges the Community of Madrid and the autonomous regions governed by agreements between the PP and Vox to “comply with the law and the Spanish Constitution, avoiding blockages and delays and ensuring that state funds reach all municipalities so that all citizens can benefit from them without any form of discrimination on grounds of sex, age, origin, religion, sexual orientation…”.

The motion acknowledges the work carried out in recent years by the Spanish Government in economic, social, labour and international affairs, “which has helped to strengthen the welfare state” by restoring “universal public healthcare, passing a labour reform that has restored rights to millions of workers, raising the minimum wage” and regaining its voice on the international stage, the motion states.
