Registration for these activities on technology, creative writing, health and more opens in September…
The City Council, through the Department for Feminism, is offering nearly a thousand places on various courses and workshops between October and February.
IT, creative writing, performing arts, languages, Zentangle, percussion, self-awareness and relaxation are just some of the activities taking place at the 8 March Centre and the Women’s Centre, as well as at the Loranca and Vivero District Councils.
Registration for the activities taking place in the first four-month term of the academic year will be online via the City Council’s website. The registration period will run from 9 September to 11 September. The council department has set up internet access points at the 8 de Marzo Centre for those who need assistance, subject to prior request.
Raquel López, the Councillor for Feminism, explained that “It is a space not only for learning, but also for coming together and reflection. A programme that ranges from promoting social participation, digital autonomy, care and personal growth to empowerment”.
The workshops and courses are divided into three areas. One focuses on technology, offering workshops on IT and smartphones; another on personal development and empowerment, with courses on mindfulness, English for female travellers, percussion, literature… And a third area on health and gender, which includes workshops on grief, quality of life, self-control, relaxation, nutrition and exercises to stimulate the mind, amongst many others.
In addition, women can also sign up for the ‘Maternando’ parenting group and the self-defence workshop, aimed specifically at women aged between 18 and 35.
In total, there are nearly a thousand places available: 883 at the 8 de Marzo and Casa de la Mujer centres, plus a further 70 offered by the district councils, between October and February alone. From February to June next year, the council department will offer a new programme of courses and workshops.
