In the midst of a heavy downpour, a monk finds a kitten which he names Anzu and raises with great care. However, 30 years later, not only is the kitten still alive, but it has become a ‘ghost cat’ that speaks and lives like a human being.

One day, the elderly monk asks Anzu to look after Karin, his 11-year-old granddaughter who has been abandoned by her father. Karin will ask Anzu for a favour, which will mark the start of a dramatic journey.
