  2. The City Council is introducing support for vulnerable families to tackle child poverty

The #FuenlaCareNet project was selected by the Ministry and is funded by the European Social Fund

The Local Governing Board has approved the allocation of financial aid to one hundred vulnerable families in Fuenlabrada as a measure to tackle child poverty in the town.

This is the #FuenlaCareNet Programme, which will run for two years and reach a total of 200 families.

The amounts to be received, which are linked to the families’ participation in employment and socio-educational programmes, range from 150 to 250 euros per month, depending on the number of children. In addition, it provides for a supplement for single-parent families.

The aim is to establish a new care model that combats child poverty by improving support and intervention for children and their families in vulnerable situations, and by implementing assessment and support mechanisms that enhance early detection and enable early intervention.

#Fuenlacarenet has received a grant of 2.4 million euros from the Ministry of Social Rights through the European Social Fund and was selected by the Ministry for funding from among several projects submitted by local organisations across Spain.

The project goes beyond mere financial assistance, complemented by support in the areas of career guidance and socio-educational support.

Furthermore, the project – which has received a total grant of 2.4 million euros – introduces innovative elements to this type of service, such as a new early detection tool, the ‘Risk Notification Form’, which, combined with specialised training for professionals, better coordination of protocols, and shared structures and tools amongst the professionals involved, will improve detection and reduce situations of risk. This is complemented by a comprehensive, personalised and coordinated approach.
