9 March and 14 September will be local bank holidays in 2027 1 October 2026
The first to replace 26 December, which will fall on a Sunday
In 2027, 9 March – Saint Juana’s Day or Tortilla Day – will be a local bank holiday (non-working day) as the traditional public holiday of 26 December – Saint Stephen’s Day – falls on a Sunday.
This was approved today by the Plenary Session, which has designated 14 September (Christ of Mercy) and 9 March (Saint Juana or Tortilla Day) as public holidays in Fuenlabrada for next year.
However, both 14 September and 26 December will continue to be public holidays in the city, as is traditional, although next year, Saint Juana’s Day – a popular celebration with deep-rooted traditions in Fuenlabrada – will be added as a non-working day.
For the coming year, 2027, the working calendar includes 14 public holidays, of which 10 are national, 2 are regional and 2 are local holidays set by the local councils.
